Handmade with Heart by RAG Creations

This week, we are excited to introduce you to Robin Gambrell, the talented hands and creative heart behind RAG Creations right here in Elkhart. Robin has been sewing for many years, but her journey began long before RAG Creations officially became a business. Her mother made many of Robin’s clothes while she was growing up, which gave Robin the opportunity to learn how to sew early in life.
Around 2010, while raising her boys as a stay at home mom, Robin began doing alterations and sewing for others to help provide additional income for her family. After retiring, she expanded her creativity beyond sewing and began crafting a wider variety of handmade products. She especially loves making things for her granddaughter, and that same care can be seen in every item she creates.
Even the name RAG Creations has a special and clever meaning. RAG represents Robin’s initials, while a rag is also a piece of fabric, making it the perfect name for her handmade business. At The Barn & Basket Market, Robin offers kitchen towels, hot pads, bowl cozies, mug cozies, washable snack bags, key fobs, market bags, aprons, coasters and other useful kitchen accessories. Every item is personally handmade or crafted by Robin. Her bowl cozies have become her best selling product at the market, offering customers a practical and colorful addition to their kitchens.
Robin hopes her customers feel excited when they bring home something new to add to their kitchen decor. For her, creating is something she can genuinely enjoy without a lot of stress. It allows her to use the skills she has carried throughout her life while continuing to explore new crafts and ideas.
Supporting small and local businesses is especially important to Robin because it feels more personal and directly supports families and friends within our community. Being part of The Barn & Basket Market has also brought her something beyond a place to sell her creations.
“I have enjoyed being part of a group that looks out for each other, prays for each other, encourages each other and supports each other.”
When Robin is not sewing or crafting, she enjoys cooking, swimming, hiking, playing with her pets, tackling home improvement projects and exploring the beautiful forests of East Texas. She is also a fan of a good Italian meal! Robin is currently busy creating fall and Christmas items, so be sure to watch for her new seasonal designs arriving at the market.
