This hearty comfort meal is perfect for cool evenings and reheats beautifully the next day.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef

  • 1 onion, diced

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 cup carrots, diced

  • 1 cup peas

  • 2 tbsp tomato paste

  • 1 cup beef broth

  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

  • Salt and pepper

  • 4 cups mashed potatoes

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Preparation

Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.

  2. Brown ground beef in a large skillet.

  3. Add onions, garlic, and carrots and cook until softened.

  4. Stir in tomato paste, broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.

  5. Simmer 5–7 minutes until slightly thickened.

  6. Stir in peas.

  7. Spread beef mixture into a baking dish.

  8. Top evenly with mashed potatoes.

  9. Sprinkle cheese on top if desired.

  10. Bake 20–25 minutes until golden and bubbling.
